“Pension reform: the temptation of 1995”

After the demonstrations and marches in January against the pension reform, should we prepare for the strikes and blockades in February? The answer lies with the unions. For days, the moderates have been trying to avoid a radicalization of the movement, but the most extremists (CGT in the lead), spurred on by a base which only believes in hardening and dreams of replaying 1995, are adding oil to the fire.

The France of 2023, with its fractures, its teleworking, its social networks, its galloping inflation, does not however resemble that of Louis Viannet and Marc Blondel. The world has changed a lot in nearly thirty years, but not the revolutionary unions. As a matter of principle, they still refuse any reform, any dialogue, and only express themselves by taking hostages of our fellow citizens, by blocking the refineries (no one has forgotten the fifty or so strikers who last November dry France) and more often public transport. When will there be a real minimum service?
