3.8%. This is how much contributory pensions will rise next year if the advance CPI data for November is confirmed. Prices have risen 3.2% this month, so with the average for the last year it remains at 3.8%.
The final data will not be known until next December 14, although the variation, if any, will be minimal and probably will not even serve to modify the provisional calculation.
This 3.8% increase will be applied as a general rule to contributory pensions. The minimum and non-contributory contributions – those that benefit people in a situation of economic need and who have never contributed, or not enough to generate a contributory contribution – are revalued using another criterion.
In this case, the percentage is approved by the Government in the General State Budgets of each year, although by law it must always be higher than the CPI. In the report on Projections of Public Expenditure on Pensions in Spain prepared by the Ministry of Social Security, it is established that minimum benefits will grow by 6.9% and non-contributory benefits by 6.8%.
Amount of pensions in Euskadi in 2024
The contributory pensions would be as follows, taking into account the average amount received last October by Basque pensioners:
– Permanent disability: rises approximately 54 euros more per month, up to 1.482 euros (20,748 euros annually in 14 payments if it arises from a common illness or work-related accident, and 17,784 euros, in 12 payments, if it arises from a work-related accident or occupational disease).
– Retirement: rises about 64 euros per month, up to 1.750 euros monthly (about 24,500 euros annually)
– Widowhood: rises 39 euros per month, up to 1.078 euros (15,092.02 per year).
– Orphanhood: rises 22.06 euros per month, up to 602,76 euros (8,438.64 per year).
– In favor of family members: rises about 33 euros per month, up to 918 euros (about 12,852 annually).
– Maximum pension: rises about 116 euros per month, up to 3.175 euros (about 44,450 per year).
In Spain, as of October 31, 10.08 million contributory pensions were paid, with an average amount of 1,197 euros. The highest corresponds to retirement, which reaches an average of 1,377 euros per month.
Regarding Euskadi, more than 574,000 pensions are paid – this number is not equivalent to the number of pensioners, since some can receive more than one benefit – with an average amount of 1,483 euros. Retirement benefits, which more than 382,000 Basques receive, have an average amount of 1,686 euros, the highest in Spain.
