Pensions and long careers: the Horizons group claims a maximum of 43 years of contribution

by time news

The question of long careers is a crucial point for the right, whose support will be essential to the vote on the pension reform. The Horizons group in the Assembly, a member of the majority, demanded this Friday 43 years of maximum contribution for those who started working early, taking up a proposal by deputy LR Aurélien Pradié for “long careers” in pension reform .

The deputies of the party of former Prime Minister Édouard Philippe have tabled an amendment to this effect. A few hours before the end of the debates set for Friday midnight, it will not have time to be examined at first reading, but allows positioning for the continuation of the parliamentary shuttle.

The opposition has been denouncing for several days the “vagueness” or even “injustice” around this device, with a maximum of 43 years provided for those who entered working life at 17, and 44 years for those who start at 14, 16. or 18, according to a government chart.

“It’s time to calm down to move forward”

“We think it’s time to calm down to move forward. After discussing with the inhabitants of our constituencies, and listening to the French people, we have tabled an amendment aimed at ensuring that no person eligible for the long career scheme has to contribute over the age of 43 to benefit from a full pension. “, write the elected Horizons in a press release. “We want this debate to take place in the hemicycle,” they add.

On Tuesday, Élisabeth Borne had dropped ballast on this aspect by announcing that no employee in a “long career” would be obliged to contribute more than 43 years old when two other conditions are met: having reached the required early retirement age and “having worked 4 or 5 terms before a certain age”.

This device allows a person who started at 17 to leave at 60 after 43 years of contributions. But according to a government table, 44 years of contribution are necessary for certain thresholds of entry into working life -14 years, 16 years, 18 years-, because of the link between the contribution period and the required departure age – 58 years old for 14-15 year olds, 60 for 16-17 year olds and 62 years old for 18-19 year olds.
