Rarely has the examination of a text aroused so much attention. Presented to the Social Affairs Committee, article 1 of the bill of the centrist group Liotaimed at repealing the postponement of the legal age provided for in the pension reform was finally removed in committee. The starting age at 64 is therefore maintained in the law, a stage victory for the presidential camp before the examination of the text in a week in the hemicycle of the Assembly.

Amendments deleting this article 1 were adopted by 38 votes against 34. A deletion strongly contested by the opposition, in particular by the members of Nupes who defended other amendments for the bill and believe that they have been wronged.

Saying he was “dismayed”, MP Liot Paul-André Colombani denounced the use of a “magic wand” which distorts his bill. The text, carried by the independent group Liot and whose examination continues, is not buried for all that.

Next step June 8

During this examination, eyes were particularly turned towards the 8 LR deputies who were members of the commission. Because the Republicans could swing the vote on article 1 of this bill repealing retirement at 64.

What stage now remains for the bill? This will be studied in session on June 8, day of the parliamentary niche of the Liot group (day when an opposition group controls the agenda of the Assembly).

The day before, the Insoumis chairman of the Finance Committee, Éric Coquerel, had announced as admissible the repeal text of the law bringing the year of retirement to 64 years, carried by the Liot group. The decision of the elected Seine-Saint-Denis was hardly in doubt, despite the ultimate pressure from the executive.

In the process, the majority group had castigated “a partisan decision” and “a serious attack on our institutions”. “The inadmissibility of the LIOT group’s bill is beyond doubt”, had challenged the Renaissance deputies, in a press release.
