Pensions: Macron says he is ready to meet the inter-union to “move forward” on certain subjects

by time news

He renews the invitation launched this Wednesday, during his television interview. French President Emmanuel Macron said Friday “at the disposal of the inter-union” once the Constitutional Council has rendered its decision on the pension reform.

There is no question of withdrawing the text but the Head of State says he is ready to reflect on various measures related to the reform. “I indicated our availability to move forward on subjects such as professional wear and tear, career endings, retraining, career development, working conditions, remuneration in certain branches”, he detailed. at a press conference in Brussels.

“And so I am at the disposal of the intersyndicale if they wish to come and meet me to make progress on all these subjects. For the rest and the pension reform, it is before the Constitutional Council and it is obvious that we will await the decision of the Constitutional Council”. But “the country cannot be at a standstill”, “we continue to move forward”, also declared Emmanuel Macron.

Discussions in the coming weeks

On Wednesday, during a television interview, the president had already mentioned the possibility of “re-engaging” the dialogue with the social partners on working conditions, to hear a “need for justice” expressed in the demonstrations against his pension reform.

He had then promised that the discussion would be held “in the coming weeks” from a “method” defined in the “three weeks-one month”, and would not take the form of “high masses” but of “discussions concrete”.

It remains to be seen whether this once again outstretched hand will be seized by the unions. During this same interview on Wednesday, Emmanuel Macron had angered his opponents by saying that the unions had not presented a “compromise proposal” on the text of the reform.

These statements had been described as “denial” and “lie” by the boss of the CFDT Laurent Berger, while his counterpart of the CGT, Philippe Martinez, had denounced a “futage of mouth and contempt for the millions of people who demonstrate”.
