It was his first speech. Sophie Binet, elected this Friday to general surprise at the CGT congress, announced that “the united intersyndicale” would meet the Prime Minister on April 5, at the invitation of the government, “to demand the withdrawal of the reform” retirements.

For her part, Élisabeth Borne was delighted with this meeting at Matignon, during which the pension reform will “obviously” be addressed by the unions, but the head of government still refuses to “pause” the text.

“I would first like to congratulate Sophie Binet on her election, to note that this is the first time that there is a woman at the head of the CGT. I think this is good news for all women,” said Elisabeth Borne during a trip to Nièvre.

“I am indeed delighted that the inter-union comes to the meeting that I proposed. Everyone will be able to address the subjects they want, and for our part we will also explain our position, ”she continued. The head of government still refutes the idea of putting the text on hold.

“No pause when a bill has been passed”

“We cannot take a break when we have a bill that has been voted on, which is being examined by the Constitutional Council, but I am listening and everyone will have the opportunity to express their positions during this meeting,” said the Prime Minister.

“We have a lot of subjects, you know, to discuss, on career paths, on the prevention of hardship. All of these topics are on the table. Obviously the trade unions will address the pension reform. I am listening and I am delighted that the inter-union responds to my invitation”.

Elisabeth Borne deplores that “certain” political parties “choose to refuse dialogue”. Insubordinate France and the Communist Party have decided not to go to Matignon next week.

“When we see the difficulties that our country is facing, that the French may be facing, I think that the responsibility is to listen to each other, to dialogue, to build responses together for the French and for our country, in all case that’s what I’m working on”.
