Rarely has the National Assembly’s Social Affairs Committee been so scrutinized. Wednesday, May 31, she must decide on the Liot bill (PPL), and in particular article 1 which aims to repeal the legal retirement age at 64 years. Committee members could argue Article 40 of the Constitution. This provides that parliamentary initiatives are not admissible if they increase public expenditure, and that it is therefore unconstitutional for deputies to propose a text which causes “the reduction of public resources” and “the creation or aggravation of a public office”.
