People all over the Czech Republic were able to enjoy the northern lights, the strongest in two decades 2024-05-10 22:03:17

In the dark, it is especially clear that the polar is very strong. However, its intensity tends to change very quickly, HM said during the night. He later added that it was the strongest polar ice in the last 21 years.

Under the age of 10, a few photographers recorded the aurora borealis. According to the records, it was observed, among other places, in Pilsen, including Krumlov, in northern Moravia, in Olomouc, but also in Brno and Blanensko.

On the nights from Friday to Saturday and from Saturday to Sunday, there are also recorded half-moons from central geographical areas, i.e. also from the Czech Republic and Slovakia. The reason is the intense activity of the Sun, which produced ten strong eruptions in the last day. Clouds of plasma should dry out our planet in the course of five hours and cause a geomagnetic storm that will probably last the whole weekend, astronomer Petr Horlek from the Physics Department in Opav said on Wednesday.

When the Sun reaches the maximum of its eleven-year cycle, eruptive regions appear on its surface. From them hot, dense solar wind escapes in the form of plasma clouds. In the last few days, such areas have been located on the opposite sides of the Earth and produced several strong eruptions, during which clouds of plasma were released in the direction of the Earth. At this time, astronomers know minimally about such clouds that are approaching them, Horlek said.

Although clouds of plasma released during strong eruptions travel towards the Earth, the occurrence of plasma cannot be 100% guaranteed. These clouds also carry their own magnetic field and this must have suitable properties to interact with the Earth’s magnetic field and cause the polar earth. These properties cannot be diagnosed until now, said the astronomer.

The polar ice that can be observed from the sky is usually very weak. According to Horlek, an inexperienced observer can mistake them for light rays or violets. If the polar lands visible from our country happen on weekend nights, the phenomenon will also be in late conditions. The moon, which could otherwise spoil the world with its light, is now practically new. Then the weather should be pleasant, especially on the night from Friday to Saturday, said Horlek.

Recipients of observational decay should find a place with an unobstructed view to the north. At the same time, it should be an area where the observer will not be destroyed by light. Therefore, in a northerly direction, I can’t find a town for a distance of hundreds of kilometers.

Half of the five most beautiful nebulae in the sky, and two in all, are in the polar regions, where they are visible across the sky. In Czechia and Slovakia, don’t expect it to be as clear as in the Nordic areas, usually they can only be recorded photographically and it is difficult to see them, among other things, because of the harmful light pollution from the cities, said Horlek.

I’m looking for an observation pole, I recommend watching the so-called auroral monitors, on the website www.solarham.com or www.spaceweatherlive.comfallen through a mobile application Aurora Alerts.
