The holy Eid-ul-Fitr is being celebrated in the entire country, including the capital, with due dignity, religious solemnity and joy. Many of the residents of the capital could not go to their village homes to celebrate Eid with their loved ones due to various reasons. Some of them are leaving Dhaka today on Thursday (April 11) on the day of Eid. And using this opportunity, the transporters are collecting double fare.
Meanwhile, buses do not leave Dhaka until their seats are full. As a result, passengers are worried about reaching their destination on time.
Transport officials say that a bus trip costs thousands of rupees. So, it is not possible to take an empty car. That’s why we have to wait until all the seats are filled.
It has been seen that people of different classes and professions leave Dhaka before and after the Eid prayers and go to their localities in the Phulbaria terminal of Dholaipar in the capital.
Many do business or work in the capital till Chand Raat (the night before Eid). Many of the hotel employees, rickshaw-van-pickup drivers, street vendors are going home to the village today.
Abul Hasanat will go to Bhanga in Faridpur by Hilsa Paribahan bus. He said, I have to go home on Eid. I work in a grocery store in Paltan. I did duty all night. The shop owner has given leave since dawn. Family lives at home. So, I am going home today on the day of Eid.
He said that every year, passengers are held hostage and double fares are collected during Eid. Same situation this year. 250 rupees rent 500 rupees. There is no one to see them.

Samsul Islam, a resident of Madaripur’s Shibchar, said that the fare on this route increases several times during various festivals including Eid. At Mawa Ghat, the rent is 250 taka and 500 taka.
Regarding the journey on the Eid day, Hilsa Transport Supervisor Kabir Hossain said that many people go home on the Eid day after finishing work. Keeping that in mind, every year we arrange transportation on Eid day. We also have families, they also have to buy new clothes. Celebrate Eid by taking extra fare from passengers.
