As reported by the General Assistance Center, on Wednesday around 10 p.m. 25 minutes a notification was received about the fact that in Radviliški, Stiklo st. the apartment is on fire.
Radviliškis fire rescue forces were dispatched to the scene.
Information about the incident was transferred to the Šiauliai emergency medical station.
As lrytas.lt learned in the Situation Coordination Department of the Fire Protection and Rescue Department, when the firefighters arrived, the apartment on the fourth floor of the building was burning with an open flame.
“People are being evacuated. There are people left on the fifth floor who cannot leave the building by themselves, the evacuation is also carried out through the windows”, – around 11 p.m. Firefighters told lrytas.lt.
A large force of rescuers was mobilized to extinguish the fire, firefighters not only from Radviliškis, but also from Šiauliai, lifts and ladder trucks were used.
Around 11 p.m. 28 min. the fire was localized, the spread of the fire was stopped.
Just before midnight, firefighters lrytas.lt informed that a total of more than 20 people were evacuated from the building. People living up to the third floor could go outside by themselves, people from the fourth and fifth floors were evacuated through the windows.
“There are injured people. Medics provided assistance to people poisoned by smoke at the scene. One person has suffered burns, he was taken to the hospital”, – lrytas.lt the rescuers said.
The apartment where the fire started was badly burned. Firefighters planned before midnight that the combustibles would be re-excavated after the fire was extinguished.
It is not yet clear what caused the fire.
