On social networks, several of them complained of being victims of “Russophobia”, or the fact of feeling anti-Russian feelings.

In several cases, these citizens are blamed for supporting the invasion of Ukraine.

Recently, the founder of the NGO WindOfChange, a think tank focused on democratic values, relayed the extract of a Russian visiting Mexico, victim of harassment because of her nationality.

“In Mexico, people hate us. We came here to reach the United States, but here they don’t like us. Everyone hates Russians! I can’t take this anymore […]“, she summarized.

The woman, who had previously stayed a few months in Brazil, is indignant that the Russians are badly perceived in the West.

“Why are we humiliated? Maybe we’re too emotional or too sincere, but we’ve never been aggressive […]. I want to live in a society where people are more tolerant. Because I have a Russian passport, I am nothing”, she raised in a row.

In the excerpt seen several times, the lady does not indicate whether she openly supports Vladimir Putin’s special military operation.

Last September, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov castigated before the UN the rise in hatred towards citizens of Russian origin.

“Official Russophobia in the West is unprecedented, its scale is grotesque,” he said.
