Turkish Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloglu announced that Instagram users in Turkey can now access the social network once again.
Uraloglu revealed this on his Ex social network profile following successful negotiations with Meta representatives, as reported by BTA.
Access was restored at 9:30 p.m.
Uraloglu noted progress in removing posts related to various crimes, including those involving child sexual abuse, suicide promotion, insults towards Republic of Turkey founder Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, and support for terrorist organizations like the PKK and FETO.
The minister confirmed that content deemed illegal under the “crime catalog” would be removed. He also announced the deployment of additional Meta staff in Turkey.
During the period of restriction, many Turkish Instagram users resorted to accessing the platform through virtual private networks (VPNs).
