The Prime Minister assigned 4 ministers to propose measures against aggression
The Prime Minister Acad. Nikolay Denkov tasked four ministers – of internal affairs, of labor and social policy, of justice and of education and science, to propose measures against the aggression. Within a week, they must identify the dysfunctional mechanisms to deal with violence in the spheres they govern and indicate what needs to be done, including in systems outside the executive branch, to reverse the negative trend.
The reason for the emergency measures is another case of aggression against a young woman and the lack of adequate actions by the justice system. “It’s time for each of us to take our role and responsibility in order to stop the onslaught of aggression and pain in our lives,” said Academician Denkov at the beginning of the regular government meeting today.
The prime minister stressed that law enforcement should only use force when necessary and be a “force for good” the rest of the time. “Whoever doesn’t understand the difference has no place in the Ministry of Internal Affairs,” said the Prime Minister.
Academician Denkov calls on the people’s representatives to adopt the right laws that protect the victims and leave no loopholes for the rapists to escape. Politicians should set a positive example and not behave aggressively in public, the Prime Minister emphasized.
He also addressed prosecutors and judges, who are expected to use their powers to protect victims, not abusers. “People want justice, not apathy and indifference to human pain,” the Prime Minister was emphatic.
He invited parents and teachers to set a personal example: “One good deed of yours, which will be remembered for a lifetime, is more important than ten moral lessons.” According to Academician Denkov, the media and popular personalities on social networks can also help in combating aggression by showing the good and the beautiful instead of promoting violence.
