People’s Artist Thanh Dien said that recently he had to go to the emergency room many times, hospitalized every few days. On July 11, the artist shared a video of himself lying in a hospital bed and said that through a medical examination, the doctor concluded that his blood pressure was 200mmHg high, and his blood sugar had increased to 165mg/dL. The artist also had pain in his old wound, and his heart was beating strongly.
After emergency treatment, his symptoms gradually stabilized and he was able to breathe more comfortably. After several hospitalizations, the doctor was able to determine People’s Artist Thanh Dien’s illness.

Due to his health condition, he had to give up many projects, including a film about family love by artist Ngoc Huyen. Artist Bao Quoc will replace Thanh Dien in this role.
People’s Artist Thanh Dien shared that he was about to undergo surgery. The artist wrote: “The doctor said I missed Hue so much that I was acting spoiled, and I had to go to the emergency room three times before the illness was discovered. The illness brought me painful hallucinations, only seeing the silhouettes of my deceased wife and daughter, and then myself filming. Each hallucination was like a knife stabbing my heart, causing me extreme pain in addition to physical pain. I endured far less than Hue did back then. Now, only blurred memories remain in my hallucinatory mind. I hope a new chapter begins well.”
Artist Thanh Dien Born in 1945, he is a cai luong artist, film actor, and stage director. He was awarded the title of Meritorious Artist in 1993 and People’s Artist in 2023. He married famous cai luong artist Thanh Kim Hue in 1975 and had two children, Nguyen Dang Quang and Nguyen Duc Hong Loan (who died of illness). In 2021, Thanh Kim Hue passed away from cancer.
