Abe was able to further strengthen India-Japan relations. In 2014, he was the Chief Guest at India’s Republic Day Parade. Thus, Shinzo Abe became the first Japanese Prime Minister to participate in the Indian Republic Day Parade. In 2021, the country honored him with the Padma Vibhushan.
Abe was shot by an unknown assailant on Friday morning while speaking at a public event in the western Japanese city of Nara. No amount of treatment or medication could bring him back to life.
