Portugal were eliminated in the Euro quarter-finals. After 120 minutes of goalless play and penalties in which France was better, when João Félix hit the post with the third penalty, the National Team abandoned the race to try to become European Champions again, as it turned out in 2016, and it failed in the test rooms.

For Ronaldo and Pepe, farewell to the Europeans too. And theirs is the image of disappointment. The central defender, age 41, in tears, hugs the captain, age 37. Friends, together on a long journey in the national team.

But there was also a hug from the coach, Roberto Martínez, nurturing João Félix. And the sadness of all the other Portuguese players who wanted much more.
