Judge Isabel Perelló has pledged before the King her position as President of the General Council of Justice and the Supreme Court, becoming the first woman to head both bodies in their entire history.
Perelló (1958) was approved by the Constitution in an event at Zarzuela Palace and the President of the Government was present, Pedro Sánchez; Congress President, Francina Armengol; the president of the Senate, Pedro Rollán; President of the Constitutional Court, Cándido Conde-Pumpido; and the Minister of the Presidency, Justice and Relations with the Cortes, Félix Bolaños.
After reading the Royal Decree of his appointment published today in the Official State Gazette, Perelló has pledged his position before the creation of the constitutional issue opened by article 123, on the Supreme Court.
After this, the king congratulated the new president of the high court for being the woman of the time who holds this position, and they took an official photo.
