Zalaegerszeg is the first city to accept the new county bus and train ticket.

As the state railways MÁV announced, the county capital of Zala will be the first place in the country where the tariff network will be perfect. In concrete terms, this means that the super saver ticket for Zala County, costing HUF 9,450 per month, can be used not only on the MÁV trains and the intercity buses from Volánbusz, but also on the buses used in Zalaegerszeg’s urban transport system.

City councilors unanimously approved the new regulation. More than 7,000 people in Zala County, including 2,700 schoolchildren, bought the super saver ticket, which has been valid since May, in the version with a 90% discount. Mayor Zoltán Balaicz is hoping that his city’s new social measure will encourage even more citizens to use the saver ticket to use public transport. Zalaegerszeg offers 27 bus lines, which were used for more than 7 million journeys last year. A dozen e-buses from the Chinese brand BYD will soon be operating in the city. The new county and state ticket for buses and trains has already been bought by almost 350,000 people nationwide.
