After her conviction on Friday afternoon, Melanie Müller has now suffered another setback: a planned performance by the pop singer has been cancelled by the organiser.
On Friday afternoon, Melanie Müller was sentenced to a fine of 160 daily rates of 500 euros each by the Leipzig District Court for possession of narcotics and the use of symbols of unconstitutional organizations. The background: The pop singer is said to have shown the Hitler salute at a concert in 2022, and 0.69 grams of cocaine mixture and an ecstasy tablet were found during a search of her apartment in Leipzig. The presumption of innocence applies until a final conviction. Nevertheless, the conviction has already had its first consequences for Müller.
Melanie Müller was actually supposed to perform at the “Rampensaualarm” in Goslar on November 2nd of this year. Just a week ago, she posted on Instagram and announced the party: “Let’s go to Goslar.” She added the hashtags “This life is awesome” and “If you remember, you weren’t there,” among others.
But nothing will come of it. As the organizer announced in a statement on his Instagram channel, the event has now been canceled. “Dear people. We have canceled the planned event with Melanie Müller. We distance ourselves from any brown ideology, we have always celebrated colorfully and we will continue to do so,” it says.
Melanie Müller’s sentence was significantly higher than what prosecutor Thomas Schmelzer had demanded. He had called for a fine of 95 daily rates of 60 euros each. “I have no doubt that what she did was a Hitler salute,” he argued. In the end, however, a fine of 160 daily rates of 500 euros each – a total of 80,000 euros – was imposed.
