Perfumerías Avenida took advantage this Wednesday in the first leg of the Endesa Women’s League semifinals with a hard-fought victory against Barça CBS (57-64), which leaves the tie open before the second leg on Saturday in Salamanca.
In a match of maximum intensity, the Castilian team commanded the score with advantages that never reached double digits. Ruth Hamblin was the local top scorer with 14 points and Michaela Onyenwere led the visitors (15). Despite keeping the favorite sign as in the previous round, when they swept Cadí La Seu (45-92 and 82-56), the team from Salamanca found greater resistance this time against a Barça CBS team that came to the meeting with the high morale after surprising Spar Uni Girona (50-56 and 59-66).

Equality prevailed in the initial quarter, with a happy rhythm and mastery of the attacks. Perfumerías Avenida began commanding with minimal incomes (12-14, min.5), thanks to the presence in the area of Reisingerova and the power of Onyewere in transition. Barça replied with a choral and fluid game, and knew how to find Hamblin in advantageous situations near the basket to end the first round one point down (20-21). The defenses gained consistency in the second round (29-29, min.15). Mircheva’s encouragement coming off the bench and Rakovic’s wrist fueled the Barça offensive when Perfumerías Avenida adjusted the marking on Hamblin, Barça CBS’ top scorer at halftime with 10 points.
