Malappuram> Box containing documents including special ballot papers used in Perinthalmanna assembly election Malappuram Jo. Collector VR Premkumar said that an inquiry will be conducted regarding the arrival at the registrar’s office. A report has been given to the Election Commission in this regard. An explanation has been sought from the employees of both Perinthalmanna Sub-treasury and Malappuram JR office. The collector asked to reply within a week.

The boxes containing Perinthalmanna block panchayat election materials and assembly election materials were kept in the strong room of Perinthalmanna sub-treasury. Block Panchayat Election Officer Perinthalmanna Cooperative Asst. was the registrar. Therefore, the primary conclusion is that when the boxes containing the election materials were moved to the Malappuram JR office, nothing of the Niyasabha election was included. It was found in the search conducted by Perinthalmanna Sub-Collector Sreedhanya Suresh yesterday. The box, which was kept at the Perinthalmanna sub-collector’s office on Monday night, was taken to the High Court at 7:00 on Tuesday morning. It was brought to the High Court in the afternoon.

The registrar had instructed to transfer the election materials to the High Court on the petition of KPM Mustafa, who was an LDF independent candidate for the Pirinthalmanna constituency. 348 special postal votes were left uncounted. The LDF candidate lost by 38 votes. LDF demands that deferred votes should be counted.
