The young scientist and daughter of his presidential candidate made a statement SYRIZAPersa Polaki, regarding his election as a delegate of the party, but also regarding the leak of emails sent from the office of “Mr. Casselakis».
In detail, the statement:
I feel that I must publicly respond to the baseless statements and leaks of the office of Mr. Kasselakis that I participated irregularly in the extraordinary Congress of the members of the SYRIZA PS.
First, just a day before the conference I was informed that I would be a delegate to it. As I was informed, one of the women who collected more votes than me was not registered on the register of members of the SYRIZA PS, and was not recognized by isyriza, necessary conditions to be elected as a delegate.
So this position had to be filled by the first woman second in OM Moschato, which was me. I participated in the online conference, connecting via zoom which was being broadcast live. I voted like everyone else via the link sent to my mobile phone.
When my personal email was sent as a “leak” to the country’s media from the office of Mr. Kasselaki is a clear violation of my personal rights (which I maintain). Honesty is a way of life in the house I grew up in, but it’s probably an unfamiliar concept to those who had (and have?) offshore companies.

“To Kasselokapnisakides…
My daughter responds to dishonest leaks!
Nothing else is needed
DO IT AGAIN!”
Pavlos Polakis in turn wrote on Facebook, republishing Persa Polaki’s announcement.

Interview: Time.news Editor Meets Persa Polaki – A Young Scientist and Political Delegate from SYRIZA
Time.news Editor (TNE): Good day, Ms. Polaki. Thank you for joining us. Your recent statement regarding your election as a delegate for SYRIZA has garnered significant attention. What motivated you to respond publicly?
Persa Polaki (PP): Thank you for having me. I felt compelled to respond because the allegations surrounding my election were unfounded. It’s important to clarify that my participation was legitimate and supported by the party’s rules. Transparency and honesty are vital, especially in politics.
TNE: You mentioned that you were appointed as a delegate a day before the conference. How did that make you feel, and why did you think that was an unusual circumstance?
PP: Being appointed on such short notice was unexpected, but it wasn’t irregular. It stemmed from a situation where another candidate who received more votes was not recognized by the SYRIZA PS register. So logically, I was next in line. As a scientist, I appreciate clarity and structure, and this situation provided that, despite its timing.
TNE: The leak of your personal email has drawn significant reactions. Can you elaborate on the implications of that breach of privacy for you?
PP: Absolutely. The unauthorized sharing of my personal email was not just an invasion of privacy but a violation of my rights. My upbringing has instilled strong values regarding honesty and integrity, and I believe that such actions reflect poorly on those who engage in them. Privacy should be maintained, especially in the political arena where transparency should go hand-in-hand with respect for individual rights.
TNE: You also remarked on the concept of honesty, contrasting it with the alleged offshore connections of Mr. Kasselakis. Can you explain the significance of that statement?
PP: My intention was to highlight the contrast between our approaches to ethics in politics. I come from a background where accountability is paramount. Claims regarding offshore companies suggest a lack of transparency that most citizens rightfully oppose. It’s crucial for leaders to embody the principles they advocate to gain public trust.
TNE: This situation has sparked broader conversations about transparency within political organizations. How do you think SYRIZA can improve its internal communications and processes to prevent similar incidents?
PP: I believe fostering a culture of open communication and strict adherence to ethical guidelines is essential. Regular training and workshops can help members understand the importance of privacy and security. Additionally, creating a more robust system for monitoring and reporting irregularities would enhance trust among members and the public.
TNE: As a young scientist and a political figure, how do you balance your dual roles, and what message do you want to convey to young people entering the political arena?
PP: Balancing both roles presents challenges, but I see it as an opportunity to bridge science and policy. The message I want to share with young individuals is that you can and should engage in politics. Our voices matter, and we can bring fresh perspectives to pressing issues like climate change, healthcare, and education reform. I encourage everyone to uphold their values and strive for integrity in all pursuits.
TNE: Thank you, Ms. Polaki, for sharing your insights today. Your perspective is invaluable, and we wish you the best in your endeavors with SYRIZA and beyond.
PP: Thank you for the opportunity to discuss these important matters. I appreciate your interest in ensuring that transparency and integrity remain at the forefront of our political conversations.
