Everyone expects her to speak German because she looks like her father, Ermakova said before winning “Let’s Dance” and winning over an audience of millions. Now he speaks German and has goals.
Now, he feels “such love” in Germany and is “very grateful for it.” “Learning is still difficult, but I continue. At the beginning I was afraid to speak German because I didn’t know enough words to say what I wanted to say. And even now it’s still not the same to speak the native language.”
“I am German, Russian and Nigerian”
Ermakova emphasizes that her origins are very traditional. “It’s all talked about far too small. Yes, I’m German, Russian and Nigerian. With so many mixes, it’s hard to find your way around. Somehow you don’t really fit in.” Home is relative. “It doesn’t matter where I am, as long as I have a good sense of energy, I get a lot of energy from human interactions.”
The 24-year-old told “SZ” that she feels at home in London because she grew up there and has friends there. “But now I am always in Germany, meeting people and learning German. And suddenly I feel that I am accepted here too and people see me as a German and are proud of me. This acceptance is amazing, I never expected it.”
“We should take time to be kind”
On August 9, Ermakova released an album with cover songs (“Behind the Blue Eyes”). The single “Behind Blue Eyes” – a cover by the British band The Who – was released at the beginning of the year. The lyrics seem to suit her well: “No one knows what it’s like to be a sad girl behind blue eyes.” Even as a child, Ermakova received a lot of attention because of her father.
Ermakova told “South German” now that “if the conviction becomes a big event and the person in question has no control over it, that is wrong.” “We should take the time to be kind. Especially when it comes to children, we should be more careful.”
