A patient infected with monkeypox died in Peru on Monday. It is the first death in the country where more than 300 infections have been reported. This was reported by a health official.

The 45-year-old man arrived at the hospital in very serious condition after being infected with monkey pox. His health had deteriorated after he stopped his HIV treatment,” the director of Dos de Mayo National Hospital, Eduardo Farfan, told local radio.
It is the fifth death linked to the disease outside Africa, after the deaths in Spain (two), Brazil and India.
