Future Trends in Peruvian Coffee Exports: A Growing Global Presence

The rise of Peruvian coffee on the international stage is evident, with exports expected to surpass 155,000 tons by the end of 2024. This robust growth trajectory shows a significant 65.1% increase compared to 2023, driven by quality certifications from the National Service of Agrarian Health (Senasa).

Currently, Peruvian coffee has penetrated 52 international markets with a staggering revenue of US$ 170 million. The United States remains a dominant market, acquiring around US$ 36 million worth of coffee, followed closely by Belgium and Germany. These trends highlight the coffee’s increasing acceptance and appreciation on a global scale.

As the European Union imposes new sustainability regulations, the emphasis on deforestation certification will likely influence future growth trajectories. Peruvian exporters must adapt to these changing parameters to maintain market access.

The Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation (Midagri) acknowledges the intrinsic value of fostering relationships with international buyers while ensuring that Peruvian coffee producers are supported through rigorous phytosanitary measures against pests that threaten the crop.

Furthermore, with only 88 international markets on the global coffee map, there remains substantial room for growth. The high demand for quality products among diverse consumer bases signals a promising outlook for Peruvian coffee. Initiatives like the “I Drink Peruvian Coffee” festival highlight the importance of local producers and aim to create brand loyalty among consumers.
