Peruvian communist leader Vladimir Cerrón, sentenced to four years in prison for corruption

However, Judge Guido Arroyo ordered that the sentence be executed when there is a judgment in the second instance, something that will happen before the appeal presented by Cerrón, who was governor of the Junín region before being dismissed for corruption.

The Prosecutor’s Office points out that the former governor should not have started the aerodrome project in Orcotuna, Concepción province, since there was already a report from the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) that recommended not carrying out the work as there was another airport in the area. It is also noted that a contract was signed in contravention of a position presented by the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) through the General Directorate of Investment Policy (DGPI).

The judge also ordered that Cerrón not be absent from his place of residence, in addition to complying with registering in the biometric control.
