Gloria de Perú has completed the acquisition of 99.99% of Ecoluz, a hydroelectric power company in the Papallacta sector.

The Peruvian group Gloria is once again making investments in Ecuador. This time, it has acquired the hydroelectric company Ecoluz, which has two power plants in the Papallacta sector, two months after having obtained the corresponding authorization.

“Grupo Gloria, through its Ecuadorian subsidiary UNIÓN CEMENTERA NACIONAL UCEM SA, has closed the purchase and sale contract for 99.998% of the shares of the hydroelectric company ECOLUZ SA located in Ecuador,” said a statement from that firm published by the Peru Retail portal.

This operation began in May 2024, when the Superintendency of Economic Competition of Ecuador approved the acquisition of all the shares of Ecoluz SA by Ucem SA

The Ecoluz company has two hydroelectric plants, Papallacta and Loreto, both located in the Papallacta parish, Quijos canton, Napo province. The first has a generation capacity of 4.2 MW, while the second has a capacity of 2.15 MW.

This will allow the Peruvian group to secure energy for the cement plant’s production. The amount of the investment was not specified.
