Peru exported 17,732 tons of mandarin for US$ 22.8 million, showing a drop of -42.5% in volume and -28.8% in value. The presentation of fresh mandarin represented 98.5% of the total.

(Agraria.pe) Peruvian mandarin exports totaled 17,732 tons for US$22.8 million in May of this year, which represented a contraction of -42.5% in volume and -28.8% in value compared to what was reported in the same month of 2023.

In the analyzed month of this year, the average price per kilogram increased from US$ 1.09 to US$ 1.29, which represents an increase of 23.9% that helped partially offset the decrease in the volume shipped.

The Peruvian mandarin reached 24 destinations, two exceeding those of the previous year. The United States was the main importer of Peruvian mandarins, with 56.8% of the total exported by the country, which is equivalent to 9,625 tons worth US$ 13.0 million, at a price per kilogram of US$ 1.35. In second place was Canada, with a 10.0% share (2,095 tons worth US$2.3 million) and a price per kilogram of US$1.09.

Behind were Japan (7.6% of the total exported, equivalent to US$ 1.7 million and a price per kilogram of US$ 1.59), the United Kingdom (7.6%, with US$ 1.7 million and a price per kilogram of US$ 1.08) and the Netherlands (5.3%, with US$ 1.2 million and a price per kilogram of US$ 1.17).

The presentation of fresh mandarin represented 98.5%, with Compañía de Exportación y Negocios Generales SA – COEXA (28.5% participation) as the main exporters; Consortium of Fruit Producers SA (20.0%); Laran Processing SAC (14.4%); Sun Fruits Exports SA (8.4%) and Asesorías e Inversiones Muva SAC (4.6%).
