We met Harry Styles more than a decade ago with the band One Direction which has become one of the most popular boy bands ever. Unfortunately, in 2016 they broke up and each of the band members decided to pursue a solo career and it can be said that Harry’s independent career was no less successful. He released hit after hit, his two albums broke charts around the world and also won a Grammy. This past weekend Harry released his third album called “Harry’s House” which features 13 songs.

The album opens with the song “Music for a sushi restaurant” and from the first second you can hear that this album will be special in terms of melody. The song combines trumpet sounds with drums and talks about the ingredients for making sushi as a metaphor for how he wants your relationship to look. The next song is “Late night talking” which is a poppy and rhythmic song with touches of disco from the 70’s. In the song he shares about life with his partner and the constant desire to make her happy even when she is sad.
Then comes the song “Grapejuice” in which Harry demonstrates good vocal abilities. In the song he tells us about an intimate relationship and the understanding that he enjoys life more with his lover and how he would like to escape his crazy life just to be alone and sit with his partner next to a bottle of good wine. The album continues with the hit and the first single from it called “As it was”. In the song Harry tells about the difficulties and dealing with publicity and life in the spotlight and that his life will no longer be as it was then. In addition he shares about the sense of loneliness that advertising can bring. The next song is “Daylight” which describes dealing with a relative and a remote control remotely and how much it gets upset whenever they have to be absent from each other.
Immediately afterwards comes the song “Little freak” which is a calm ballad in which Harry recalls a relatively previous system they had and the time they spent together. Throughout the song he regrets how things ended between them and even wonders if they will ever go back to each other. Then comes another particularly moving and chilling ballad that even managed to bring us down a few tears. The song is called “Matilda” and tells the story of someone whose family did not treat her well and who experienced domestic violence. He takes inspiration from the film of the same name about a girl named Matilda a smart girl with telekinesis powers that her parents and school principal would have abused. In the song Harry turns to her and tells her that she should not feel guilty or that she is wrong if she does not want to go home because it is not good for her there.
The album continues with a completely different song called “Cinéma”. The song is poppy with touches of the alternative style in which he addresses his partner Olivia Wilde who is known to be an actress and film director. The song supposedly tells the story of the beginning of their relationship about how they met on the set of the movie “Don’t Worry Darling” which is expected to come out soon where Harry plays the lead role and Olivia is the director. In the song Harry reveals that somehow he liked her from the first moment he saw her. The next song is “Daydreaming” which has a really cool tune, the background sounds are just great and Harry’s vocal abilities are insane. Feels like the song was written a moment before Harry has to go on a tour of mine where he will not see his lover for a long time so he asks her to give her something he can dream about and thus miss less. Then the song “Keep driving” which talks about ignoring what is happening around you and moving on no matter what. Even when you fall or something bad has happened to you then you should continue to drive normally and not stop on the way.
The album continues with “Satelite” a rhythmic song that includes a lot of special sounds and beats from different instruments. In the song Harry turns to an ex or a former friend and tells her that he will always be there for her when he sees that she is not feeling well and feels alone. The next song is “Boyfriends” which is exciting and calming and amazing on the way men sometimes behave badly to their partners. In an interview Harry said he took inspiration from his sister’s relationships of friends and even the song made him think back if he ever went out not to behave badly towards his ex girlfriends. The album closes with the song “Love of my life” in which Harry expresses his love for his homeland – England. He says he did not know how much he loved her until he had to leave her and regrets not being there anymore. He talks about how proud he is of where he comes from and takes with him everywhere in the world England with him and actually discovers that there is his real home name.
There is no doubt that this album is different and special from what we are used to hearing from his previous albums and also from what can be heard in contemporary music in terms of melodies as well as lyrics. Each song has a special style with so many different and varied sounds, Harry’s background vocals and vocals are just amazing and fun to hear the songs. And if we dig a little deeper into the lyrics we can see that they are much more mature and profound than his older songs. In addition there is a real connection between all the songs and the main theme which is the house. Throughout the album Harry tells us that a home is not necessarily just a room with four walls living in it but it is the place where you feel most loved and safest in the world whether it is with your spouse or even in the country you feel most comfortable in. In addition Harry refers in two songs “Matilda” and “Boyfriends” to domestic violence and between spouses who read at home and unfortunately the cases just come up and less talk and take care of it and tell them to stay away and make it clear that home is not your place of residence but where you are surrounded by people who love and feel The happiest in the world. In this album Harry gives us a glimpse into his private life and his “home” and does it in the best way and you could even say that he did not disappoint us and the rest of the fans in the world because this album is just amazing.
