Pete Davidson Enters Diversion Program for Reckless Driving Charges

by time news

Pete Davidson, the comedian and “Saturday Night Live” cast member, has reached a deal with the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office after being charged with misdemeanor reckless driving back in June. The 27-year-old New York resident allegedly lost control of a Mercedes-Benz and crashed into a home in Beverly Hills.

According to the D.A.’s office, Davidson will be allowed to enter an 18-month diversion program instead of being arraigned on the charge. As part of the program, he will be required to perform work at the Medical Examiner’s Office or a hospital, attend 12 hours of traffic school, and complete 50 hours of community service. Davidson’s counsel indicated that the community service will likely be completed at the New York Fire Department, as his father was an FDNY firefighter who died on 9/11.

The crash, which occurred on March 4 near Rodeo Drive and Elevado Avenue, reportedly involved Davidson’s girlfriend, actress Sui Wonders. Thankfully, no one was seriously injured in the incident.

“We believe that Mr. Davidson engaged in reckless driving, which ultimately resulted in his involvement in a serious collision into a home,” said Greg Risling, assistant chief of media relations at the LA County District Attorney’s office. “Luckily, no one was seriously injured as a result of this collision. We know that reckless driving can have devastating consequences.”

Davidson’s representatives have not yet commented on the situation. The comedian is known for his outspoken and often controversial sense of humor, as well as his high-profile relationships. He has been a cast member on “Saturday Night Live” since 2014.

It remains to be seen how this legal matter will impact Davidson’s career and personal life, but he will now have the opportunity to complete the diversion program and put this incident behind him.
