Petersen and football addiction: “I want to play” | free press

Augsburg.

Nils Petersen ignited as quickly as usual as a noble joker when he scored as a starting eleven kicker. In the fourth minute, the 33-year-old attacker hit his head. In the end he celebrated the first Bundesliga win in Augsburg with SC Freiburg in a 2-1 win.

Christian Streich could have congratulated himself on starting Petersen for the first time this season. “He scored an outstanding goal. We know what Nils can do in the box,” said the SC coach. Petersen was not fit for a long time – and the team also played successfully without him. Now he is in good shape, “that’s why he played today,” explained Streich.

Petersen finds himself in a dilemma. His contract expires at the end of the season. And he doesn’t always want to be a joker, no matter how comfortable he feels in Freiburg. “I want to play. Football life is short, so you want to experience moments like today. You’re addicted to it,” he said. Go or stay in summer? Petersen broods.

“No one puts a gun to my chest and demands an immediate decision. The club are fair and have signaled to me that they want to continue. Now it’s up to me.” Most recently, he was associated with 1. FC Köln. But he’s also knocking on the door to Europe and even the Champions League with Freiburg. (dpa)
