Petition that the Governor’s actions have political agenda: High Court dismissed

Kochi; In a blow to the Pinarayi government, the High Court dismissed the PIL against Governor Arif Mohammad Khan. PV Jitesh, a High Court lawyer, filed a PIL in the High Court demanding that the act of procrastination without taking a decision on the bills passed by the Legislative Assembly be declared unconstitutional.

The petition showed that delaying the bills without taking a decision is against the constitution and democratic values

The actions of the governor are accompanied by some political agenda. The petition states that it is the constitutional obligation of the governor to sign the bill passed by the legislature. However, the high court division bench comprising the Chief Justice rejected the petition stating that there is no time limit for signing the bills passed by the legislature.
