President Gustavo Petro called on workers, young people, peasants and indigenous people to march for labor dignity and social rights on the next Labor Day.

A new mobilization is approaching in Colombia this May 1, in commemoration of International Labor Day. President Gustavo Petro has called for a massive march and has announced his intention to address the workers from Plaza de Bolívar.

«This May 1st I will ask the workers to allow me to speak on their platform in the Plaza de Bolívar. I will go as before, walking, I hope you will accompany me throughout the country“It will be a walk for labor dignity,” said President Petro in an official statement.

The president’s call is not limited only to workers, but also covers various sectors of Colombian society. «It will be a day for all health workers to go out for their job stability about to be achieved. For the right to retire, for a better salary and for cheap credits for the popular economy,” he added.

Petro also urged the peasantry to join the protest demanding agrarian reform.and for young people from popular neighborhoods to fight for free higher education and access to youth cooperative credits.

It is worth mentioning that the opposition will march tomorrow, April 21, against its policies.
