“Petro is irresponsible who has not assumed the role of president”

After the president Gustavo Petro criticize the recent decisions of the Council of State that have hit the Historical Pact, The Attorney General of the Nation, Francisco Barbosa, attacked the Head of State and defended the institutions judicial.

“I think Gustavo Petro is irresponsible. He is a guy who has not assumed the role of President of the Republic with dignity. And he has not assumed it responsibly because one does not attack the judicial branch of public power. Full support for the Council of State”, the prosecutor asserted.

The criticisms come a few hours after the head of state insinuated that the decisions of the high court have been given to favor certain political sectors and affect them.

“By the way, have you noticed that they are taking away the votes of the congressmen of the Historical Pact by suspending them with administrative orders? In other words, they are de facto changing the political representation in Congress that the people elected. They took away from the Pact the presidency of Congress and now its votes. It is the soft blow, ”Petro trilled through his Twitter account.

That last part – of a soft blow – was the one that provoked Barbosa’s harsh response and even the pronouncement of the Council of State, which said that “it has not issued administrative orders with the effects that he indicates.”

“Away from political and ideological controversies, The action of this court is based on the defense of legality and on principles such as harmonious collaboration between the branches of public power. On the other hand, these decisions, as corresponds to judicial sentences in a rule of law, are subject to legal remedies,” the high court said.

This is the second clash between Petro and Barbosa in less than 24 hours. This Sunday, the prosecutor also harshly criticized the president for insinuating that the young people on the front line remain in jail.

“Well, it is that the president, as he believes that he is the Attorney General of the Nation, then we are facing a fundamental problem; he is not part of the judicial branch. How do we explain to him that first he is not my boss and second he is not the Prosecutor’s Office or the judges ”, Barbosa said on that subject.
