Petrobras announced a 7.1% increase in gasoline prices for distributors. The increase practiced by the state-owned company is R$0.20 per liter of fuel. Cooking gas will also increase: 9.8%.
This is the first adjustment in gasoline prices this year and also under the management of Magda Cambriad as president of the company. The last adjustment occurred on October 21, 2023, when prices were reduced. The last gasoline increase was on August 16, 2023.
For cooking gas, the selling price for distributors will be equal, on average, to R$34.70 per 13kg cylinder. In this case, the increase is R$3.10. Or a 9.8% increase compared to the prices charged until now.
This is the first adjustment in the sale prices of cooking gas this year. The last adjustments took place in May and July last year, both reductions. The last gas increase was on 11 March 2022.
A survey by the Brazilian Fuel Importers Association, Abicom, shows that the prices charged by Petrobras were 18% below the initial values for imported fuel. Therefore, the announced increase covers only part of this difference.
A month ago, at an event in Rio, Cambria showed comfort with international prices and the values charged by Petrobras. At the time, he said that the reference price abroad, the state-owned company’s market share and the opportunity cost for exports were sufficient and, at the time, there would be no change in the company’s prices.
