Petrol Bomb Thrown at Governor’s House in Chennai
Chennai – The Governor’s House in Guindy was targeted in a petrol bomb attack, raising concerns about the security of the governor. The incident took place on Wednesday, October 25, when an unidentified person threw a petrol bomb in front of the entrance gate. Thankfully, due to the alertness of the security guards, a major disaster was averted.
The Governor’s House immediately lodged a complaint with the Commissioner of the Chennai Metropolitan Police Department. The complaint was filed by the Deputy Secretary to the Governor, detailing the attack and expressing concern over the repeated threats and attacks targeting the governor’s life.
In recent months, there have been several incidents that have put the governor’s life at risk. The involvement of members from the Dravida Munnetra Party (DMP) has been suspected in most of these attacks. Verbal attacks and threats towards the governor have also been reported.
It is worth noting that a similar incident occurred last year in 2022 when an attack was made on the governor while attending the Darumapuram Atheena program. A complaint was registered with the police department at the time, but no further action was taken.
The lack of response from the police and their failure to address these previous complaints have compromised the security of the Governor and the Governor’s House. The recent petrol bomb attack is a direct consequence of this negligence.
The Governor’s House is now urging the police authorities to take this incident seriously and conduct a thorough investigation to identify and punish all those involved, including the masterminds behind the attack. Moreover, additional security measures are being requested to ensure the safety of the governor.
