Coimbatore: The incident where a petrol bomb was hurled at the Coimbatore cinema theater where Ajith’s strength film was released caused a stir.
Coimbatore, Gandhipuram, 100 ft Road, Karbagam Complex with three theaters is located. In this, the movie Valimai, starring Ajith was released yesterday. Fans have been busy setting up placards at different locations on the theater premises since last night.
At around 4.30 am yesterday, Naveen Kumar, 22, of Ratnapura, was engaged in setting up a placard banner when two men on a bike hurled petrol bombs at Naveen Kumar. Naveenkumar was slightly injured when the bomb exploded. Both escaped. Based on the ‘CCTV’ records, the police are looking for both.

Following the incident, additional police security has been put in place at more than 20 cinema theaters in Coimbatore. There was a delay in the start of the early morning fan show. Then, the fans who came to see the film, chanted to open the entrance door.

Also, the perimeter wall, climbed over the door and shouted. One of the fans, who had gathered in the entrance area, apparently tried to detonate country bombs exploding at festivals. Police on security duty confiscated them and alerted the fan.
