Petrol, Diesel Price Today: Will there be a change in petrol and diesel prices? : Current (January 20, 2022) situation

There is a practice of setting the price of fuel on a daily basis in line with the price of crude oil. Accordingly, oil companies are adjusting petrol and diesel prices on a daily basis. Thus, petrol and diesel prices were seen fluctuating.

In this context, on November 3, 2021, the central government announced a reduction of 5 rupees in excise duty on petrol and 10 rupees on diesel. Petrol and diesel prices have remained flat for more than two months.

Accordingly, the price of petrol in Chennai today is Rs 101.40 per liter with no change in yesterday’s price. Similarly, diesel price remained unchanged at Rs 91.43 per liter yesterday. It has been selling unchanged for the 77th consecutive day. The price went into effect at 6 a.m. today.

It is noteworthy that people are happy and relieved that the prices of essential commodities will not go up as petrol and diesel prices continue to come under control.

In this context, DMK MP Dayanidhi Maran has said that the prices of petrol and essential commodities, which are currently unchanged, will rise sharply after the completion of the forthcoming assembly elections in states including Uttar Pradesh and Punjab.
