Oil companies set petrol, diesel and cooking gas cylinder prices based on the prevailing international crude oil prices and the value of the Indian rupee against the dollar.

There have also been reports of rising prices at any time since the war began last February. However, petrol and diesel prices remained unchanged. Opposition parties have stated they will not run in the by-elections.

In this context, petrol and diesel prices rose by 76 paise per liter on March 22. After 137 days, petrol and diesel prices rose on the same day. Since then, petrol and diesel prices have continued to rise.

In that respect, today the price of petrol has increased by 47 paise per liter. Diesel prices have risen by 53 paise. A liter of petrol sells for 104.90 and diesel for 95. In Chennai, petrol price has gone up by Rs. 3.50, diesel price hike of 3.57 has shocked people.
