Doha: Officials have allowed spectators to bring pets to the World Cup. The Ministry of Municipality has clarified the guidelines in this regard. As part of this, the Ministry of Municipalities has started the service of providing veterinary certificates and pet import permits to Haya card holders.

The Ministry of Municipalities said that to bring domestic dogs and cats, they must have a valid import permit issued within 30 days of their arrival in Qatar. Additionally, these domestic animals must be fitted with electronic/microchips, the ministry said in a statement.

Large and dangerous breeds of dogs require special permission from the Ministry of Home Affairs. When visitors return to their country, they must also take the pets they brought with them to Qatar.

Conditions for obtaining import permit for pets

Dogs and cats must be over seven months old.

Rabies vaccine should be administered.

Cats must be triple vaccinated.

Pets are allowed entry only within valid vaccination period.

Dogs should be vaccinated against canine distemper, parvovirus, hepatitis C and leptospira.

Blood test for rabies immune antibody (RSNT).

Pets must wait 90 days from the date of blood sampling before traveling.

Procedures for obtaining permit

Log on to the Ministry’s website at the link https://animalcert.mme.gov.qa/ANIMAL_SYSTEM/MainPage.aspx and verify the account using the OTP received after entering the person’s date of birth and Haya card number.

Accept the terms and conditions.

Enter the required information in the form provided and submit. Then select the required service (Import/Export).

Then the message will be sent to the applicant’s registered e-mail.
