Peugeot presented the 2024 line of the 2008 crossover in Europe. Over there, it gained a new 156 hp electric motor and should have a light hybrid version of up to 136 hp. Visually, the new Peugeot 2008 is similar to the 3008. It also adopts a wide front grille inspired by the 508. The headlights have a more robust design and the “dandelion” daytime running lights received triple vertical lighting. The wheels can be 16 or 18 inches depending on the configuration. Inside, the new Peugeot 2008 features a digital instrument panel with 3D effect and a 7 or 10-inch multimedia center with connection to Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Unlike the e-2008 sold in Brazil, the European electric version will have a 158 hp engine and a 54 kWh battery, which gives it a range of up to 406 km with one battery charge. It can also have a light hybrid version with a combustion engine and a 48V system, which delivers 136 hp.
Under the hood, the new Peugeot 2008 is equipped in the old continent with a 1.2 turbo engine, which delivers between 100 and 130 hp. There, it can also be equipped with a 1.5-liter turbodiesel engine with 130 hp. The transmission can be either a six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic.
Brazilian market
The new Peugeot 2008 should arrive in Brazil next year. However, it should no longer be produced in Porto Real and be imported from El Palomar, in Argentina, a factory that also produces the 208 sold in the Brazilian market.
Different from the European version, the new “Brazilian” Peugeot 2008 must be equipped with a 1.0 liter turbo engine with 130 hp from the Pulse or a 1.3 liter turbo engine with up to 185 hp from the Jeep Renegade and Compass, in addition to the Fiat Toro and the Fastback SUV.
