Coach Pablo Marçal, according to the PF, made suspicious millionaire donations to campaigns in 2022

The Federal Police carried out this Wednesday (5) an operation in São Paulo with the aim of investigating crimes of electoral ideological falsehood, electoral embezzlement and money laundering that occurred during the 2022 elections.

One of the main targets of this action is coach Pablo Marçal who, in last year’s election, Marçal was a pre-candidate for the Presidency of the Republic by the PROS party, now incorporated into the Solidarity party. However, due to internal conflicts in the legend, he changed the registration of his candidacy to run for federal deputy.

According to the investigations, both Marçal and his partner, whose name has not been disclosed, would have made millionaire donations to election campaigns, with a significant part of these values ​​having been transferred later to companies which they own.

The Federal Police carried out seven search and seizure warrants at the homes of those being investigated and at the headquarters of the companies allegedly involved, according to information released.

Last year, Marçal launched himself as a candidate for the Presidency of the Republic for the PROS (Republican Party of the Social Order) and declared to have an equity of almost R$ 17 million before the Electoral Justice.

Initially, by joining the party, Marçal showed his intention to run for a seat in the Chamber of Deputies. However, during an event held at Arena Barueri in May, the party made its candidacy for the Presidency official, going against its initial plans.

The candidacy, however, was withdrawn by the party in August, even against Marçal’s will. After failed attempts to reverse this decision by the acronym, he decided to support the then candidate Jair Bolsonaro (PL).

In January 2022, Marçal gained media attention after endangering the lives of 32 people during a motivational expedition to Pico dos Marins, in the city of Piquete, in the interior of São Paulo.

After the storm that left the group trapped on top of the mountain, the 32 people were rescued by firefighters. At the time, firefighters who participated in the rescue criticized the coach’s conduct, stating that he was “totally irresponsible” and put people’s lives in danger while driving the group.

Firefighters warned that the ascent to Pico dos Marins is recommended only during the dry season (April to August), with the presence of a guide and adequate safety equipment. On social media, Marçal downplayed the criticism and stated that “those who don’t want to take a risk stay at home watching stories”.
