A Federal police (PF) seized in the Mato Grosso do Sul, this Wednesday, the 12th, more than 250 bottles of medicine of foreign origin. A suspect was arrested red handed. The incident took place around noon. Federal police officers were carrying out a routine inspection on Highway BR-262, between the municipalities of Terenos and Campo Grande, when they decided to approach the vehicle carrying the drug. According to the PF, the action is yet another measure to combat the illegal trade in medicines, “which poses a risk to the health of the population and can lead to serious consequences,” the corporation said in a statement. This Wednesday, the PF also carried out an action to combat crimes of smuggling embezzlement in São Paulo. In conjunction with the IRS, the corporation served three search and seizure warrants in Presidente Epitácio. In the action, imported goods were seized, such as alcoholic beverages without the IPI seal and electronic products without importer registration. The material was forwarded to the Federal Revenue, which will verify the origin of the goods and will calculate hidden taxes.
