Kátyna Baía and Jeanne Paollini were arrested after changing suitcases
A Federal police
broke out, this Tuesday (18), the second phase of the Operation Side Effect
which has the objective of arresting the suspects of the organization of the international drug trafficking
who took two Brazilian women, Jeanne Paollini and Kátyna Baía, to jail in Germany after the gang took action.
In March of this year, Jeanne and Kátyna had their bags exchanged at Guarulhos Airport. Their destination was Frankfurt, Germany and when they arrived in the German country, they were arrested for 38 days after finding cocaine in their luggage.
According to investigations by the Federal Police of Brazil, the couple who left Santa Genoveva (GO), had their luggage tags changed by a criminal drug trafficking group at Guarulhos Airport, making them take the luggage with the narcotics to the European country. The couple denied that they were aware of the contents of the suitcase and that they had not committed any crime.
The Brazilian police managed to prove the innocence of the women and arrested six people involved in the criminal scheme. The airport concessionaire said baggage handling was the responsibility of the airlines, while Latam, the airline the women traveled on, said it was cooperating with the investigation.
According to the PF, today the agents must comply with 45 court orders, 27 of which are for search and seizure, two for temporary arrest and 16 for preventive arrest. The action takes place in the cities of Guarulhos and São Paulo, with 100 police officers on active duty.
Investigations also point out that the perpetrators of the crime and other members of the organization would also have sent cocaine on two other flights. One of them went to Portugal, in October 2022, and the other to France, in March of this year.
