Pastor Anderson Silva was targeted by the Minister of Justice and Public Security, Flávio Dino, who used Twitter to send the Federal Police an excerpt from a podcast in which the evangelical leader from Brasilia talks about the prayer of Christians against Lula’s (PT) misdeeds.

No podcast Tretas e Diálogos, pastor Anderson Silva received federal deputy Nikolas Ferreira (PL-MG) and, at a certain point, referred to the imprecatory psalms as inspiration for contemporary Brazilian Christians:

“People need to believe, man. Opening a window here, the Church says ‘I’m praying’, but sometimes we’re not praying in faith, in the intensity of faith, like ‘the warrior is God’. Psalm 2 says the Lord is laughing. Laughing because he is capable of destroying the Emperor of Earth. These imprecatory prayers of the Psalmists are lacking. ‘Lord, kill my enemies’; ‘breaks the teeth of my enemies’”, says Anderson Silva.

The imprecatory psalms are a list of passages that express the psalmists’ feelings of indignation at the oppression of Israel’s enemies. David Holder, in an article published by Bible Studies, says that “the psalmists personally bore the brunt of evil in many situations, but were careful to leave vengeance in God’s hands.”

Following the podcastAnderson Silva says that Christians should pray asking “Lord, break Lula’s jaw” as a way of expressing indignation with the context that led him to the presidency of the Republic for the third term.

“Lord, make STF ministers sick so that they may know you on your sickbed. It seems that people are not believing anymore, man. And the Church has apostolic power. Paulo spoke [que] there was a sorcerer guy behind them, bothering them, then Paulo said ‘go blind, damn it, for 3 days’. And the guy stayed,’” added the pastor.

The speech was echoed by a report by the Brazilian mailwhich led Minister Dino, an assumed communist, to use the Twitter to say that he will send the material to the Federal Police for an investigation:

“The lesson of Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace, is in the Bible: ‘Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God!’ (Matthew 5:9). The phrase that incites violence is anti-Christian. It is criminal, which is why I will send it to the Federal Police today,” wrote the minister.
