Pfizer and AstraZeneca have shown efficacy against the Indian strain

At the end of last year, a new mutation of coronavirus B.1.617.2 was recorded in India. The double mutation has been found in several countries such as Australia, Belgium, Germany, Ireland, Namibia, New Zealand, Singapore, the United Kingdom and the United States, according to a statement from the Government of India on April 16.

On the eve of India asked social networks not to call the mutation of the coronavirus “Indian strain”, as it spoils the country’s image.

On May 11, World Health Organization (WHO) expert Maria van Kerkhove said the B.1.617 strain of coronavirus, first identified in India last year, is causing “global concern.” The WHO suggests that this strain is more contagious.
