New York: Pfizer says Kovid antiviral pill is 90 percent effective. The company claims that the pill is also effective against Omicon, a new variant of the corona virus. The company said the pill could also help prevent the death and hospitalization of critically ill patients.

The company last month claimed that a pill called Paxlovid was 89 percent effective in preventing hospitalization or death, based on interim results for about 1,200 people. The final results included more than 1,000 people.
