WASHINGTON: Vaccine maker Pfizer says vaccines need to be taken every year to achieve high immunity against Kovid. Pfizer chief Albert Bourla said millions of vaccines had already been ordered by countries, including the United States, which realized that annual vaccinations could help prevent the spread of the disease. Bourla added that more studies are currently being conducted on the Omicron variant and that research is underway to develop a new vaccine against the new variant.
Meanwhile, Pfizer’s argument came to the fore with US Health Adviser Anthony Fouchi. Fauchi added that current research suggests that Americans should be prepared to receive the vaccine every year and that their immunity to the booster dose will remain the same. The UK has said it will collect vaccines to provide booster doses for the next two years.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has slammed a travel ban imposed on a number of countries following the Omicron expansion.
He added that the virus has no borders and that travel bans that isolate countries that have been confirmed by Omicron would not be effective.
Guterres said this was the only way to control the spread of the virus.
