Participation in the PO 2nd round BMW Championship starting on the 22nd
Si Woo Kim, who plays on the US PGA Tour, announced that his goal is to participate in the Tour Championship, the final tournament of the season, and the Presidents Cup, a men’s golf competition.
“My goal for this year is to compete in the Tour Championship and the Presidents Cup,” Kim Si-woo said in an interview with the PGA Tour on the 22nd. “Neither one has been decided yet, but I will try my best this week.”
The Tour Championship, the final event of the 2024 PGA Tour playoffs, is a tournament open to only the top 30 FedEx Cup points earners.
The BMW Championship, the second round of the playoffs starting on the 22nd, will feature the top 50 FedEx Cup players, and the top 30 players based on the combined results from this tournament will advance to the Tour Championship.
Kim Si-woo is currently ranked 44th in the FedEx Cup rankings and must finish in the top tier in the second round to advance to the Tour Championship.
Si Woo Kim, who is aiming to advance to the Tour Championship for the second consecutive year, predicted, “I will need to finish in the top 10 at the BMW Championship to be able to advance to the Tour Championship.”
The Presidents Cup is a men’s golf competition between the United States and the world.
The World Cup excludes European countries. The United States and Europe compete in a separate competition called the Ryder Cup.
This year’s Presidents Cup will be held in Montreal, Canada at the end of September.
After the BMW Championship, the top six players in the world rankings are automatically selected, and the remaining six are selected by the team captain.
Kim Si-woo said, “I feel good about competing in the BMW Championship and earning the right to participate in the signature tournament of the 2025 season,” and vowed, “I will work hard to seize another good opportunity this week.”
Meanwhile, Si-Woo Kim, Sung-Jae Im, and Byeong-Hun An will compete in the BMW Championship, which will be held in Castle Rock, Colorado, USA for four days starting on the 22nd.
