The Minister of Health, José Manuel Miñones, was in charge of closing the event and stated that “it is a pleasure, as a pharmacist, to participate in an act of the General Council and even more so in these awards for social innovation. The UN General Assembly adapted in 2015 its commitment to sustainable development based on seventeen objectives and 169 goals; a task that is incumbent on all of us, not just the administration. And in this sense, he added that pharmacists “are a key agent for our health system and with that mandate of the 2030 Agenda.” Finally, he recalled that he is working to make the ‘Rural Community Pharmacy Program’ signed last March between the General Council and the Ministries of Health, Social Rights and the 2030 Agenda, and Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge a reality.

For his part, Jesús Aguilar, president of the General Council, recognized, in reference to the 41 projects presented in this call, that “you are all winners because, thanks to you, we have seen a glimpse, not only of what we can do , but of what we are already doing from the Pharmacy in favor of patients, vulnerable groups, and also to improve the environment. All of you are great examples of dedication, commitment and vocation for service that characterize the pharmaceutical profession”.

Likewise, Aguilar added that “our experience and closeness, guaranteed by a network of more than 22,000 pharmacies and 78,000 pharmacists, put us in a very valuable position to know the needs of the environment and to bring hope, health and well-being to our communities”, he concluded.
